Learning how shots are put together

Today I learnt how shots are put together to create certain moods.

I analysed different images on the interactive board and discussed whether they were ECU,LS,CU,High angle shots and Medium shots.

In particular I learnt that A close up might be used to portray a emotion, whereas a extreme close up often looks quiet weird.

(Here is a establishing shot used in US drama The OC.)
A medium shot is used in order to show two characters whereas a long shot is sometimes called an establishing shot because of the location.

A high angle shot will make the figure that is being filmed look weak and vulnerable whilst a low angle shot can make a person look powerful or imposing and might be used in a horror genre film.

An edit or cut is when two different shots are joined together.
