Coursework Outlines

In today’s media studies class we outlined the coursework aspect of the module and discussed the importance of research and evaluation as it jointly contributes towards 25% of the coursework whilst the other 25% is made up the finish project.

The film we will be producing must be a 2min opening of a feature film which must include titles; over thinking our film would not beneficial to me as it barley has to make sense but MUST be a linear progression.

We went over the different research elements such as Influences, Style, Genre and Copy/Imitate and did some examples in class of what may have influence us to wear what we are wearing or what/who we may be imitating by our choice of clothes/accessories.

In order for us to sussed we must show 7-8 references for how we got to the element e.g. film clip/magazines, discussions, interviews etc and to show how we have eliminated items for relevant reasons remembering that going back and picking up on mistakes can earn marks for acknowledging them.

Evaluation contributes 12.5% towards the overall coursework grade therefore we must consider the following questions when evaluating with a detailed answer;

What was the best element for you/group?
What improvements can you make?
How does this add to the Genre?
Where does this challenge Conventions?

We went over how we are graded and that we are graded on technical ability rather than story and the 4 grades are;

Basic (1)
Muddled (2)
Proficient (3)
Excellent (4)
