Over the past few day since uploading my continuity, I have been analysing the piece and making notes on the good and bad editing, camera angles, shots and compositions used and sounds this self criticism enables me to realise common mistakes that occur whilst producing a film so that when producing the main 2min opening it does not reoccur; I found whilst analysing the continuity that between;
(The counity clip can be found below)
0.3s- 1/2- second could of been lost through editing during the title
5s-0.9s- That there was significantly bad lighting resulting in not being able to see the character properly
0.12s-0.13s- Good Mid shot used to establish character to audience
0.13s-0.14s-There is unwanted sound in the background which should of been edited out.
0.15s-0.16s- Character is mid way up stairs then in another shot shes nearer the top therefore continuity is not correct
0.16s-0.17s- Lighting is again bad oppossed to 0.18s+
0.19s-0.21s-Good flow as character opens the door.
0.21s- As character walks through the door the camera changes angle although she hasnt come out of lens
0.21s-0.27s-Ambient sound but only 2 people are in the room so it shouldnt occur and the there was no sound prior to 0.21s
0.26s- No eye contact from Jonathan (black character) to show conversation between Sara and Him.
0.26s-Positioning in room/characters could of been better to see Jonathan more in depth as he replied to the question and a wide shot should of been used as she questioned Jonathan.
0.27s-Change in sound, ambient sound occurred prior to 0.27s and now there is no sound at all.
0.29-0.32-Good eye contact between characters to show conversation and reality
0.32s- Wide shot should of been used to show to show all characters in the scene as she draws conversation to a end.
0.35s-0.37s- Character didnt respond to sara's bye they just "grunted"
By me analysing this, It allows me to understand the mistakes I made in certain areas of filming and how ways in which i could improve bad lighting through Imovie- playing around with the Light exposure and sound by muting sound as well as transitions to disguise any bad camera shots.
